I'm Michael Jaroya. I build systems that take repetitive work off people.
Most of it is unglamorous. A company is growing and the business works, but somewhere in the middle someone is copying data between two systems every morning, or rebuilding the same report every Monday, or retyping orders that arrived by email. I find those jobs and build the thing that does them instead. Then I leave. If a system needs me to keep it running, I built it wrong.
That's been the work for about eight years now, mostly joining systems that were never designed to talk to each other. If that's close to a problem you have, here's how I work.
This site is where I write it down: scripting and automation, how-to guides, explainers, and the occasional account of a job going sideways. Some of it is useful to other engineers. Some of it is me thinking out loud. Not all of it is about work, and that's deliberate.
I also run Lughayangu, the largest database of African languages.
